Clinton's Offense Stays Hot Behind Simpson's Dominant Start

FROM CLINTON:

CLINTON, Iowa - After scoring 11 runs on Saturday night, the Clinton LumberKings' alter ego the "Elotes" came out on top scoring 10 more runs on Sunday afternoon, winning their second straight against the O'Fallon Hoots. The victory marks the first time Clinton has won back to back ball games in 2022.

Like the night before the Elotes started out red hot in the early innings. In the first, Clinton put up a five spot against the Hoots. Jeremy Conforti (College of DuPage) and Chase Becker (University of Minnesota) both drove in runs with RBI singles and Tyler Dahm (Mount Mercy University) capped the inning off with a three run double making it 5-0.

The 5-0 lead was all that Clinton would need. Elotes' starter Jared Simpson (University of Iowa) was sensational. The lefty went four scoreless innings and struck out nine batters, a season high for any Clinton pitcher.

The Elotes would tack on five more runs throughout and end up victorious behind solid relief work, taking the game 10-4 and improving to a record of six wins and six losses.

Clinton and O'Fallon now look to Tuesday night where the two ball clubs will meet in a double header at CarShield Field in O'Fallon, Mo.
