Walk Off Grand Slam Sends Chillicothe To Extra-Innings 14-10 Win

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, came back from a six-run decifit Monday night at VA Memorial Stadium, eventually getting a walk off grand slam from Tim Orr for a 14-10 win over the Johnstown Mill Rats.

Johnstown (12-13) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after scoring a run in the first and getting a solo home run from Randy Carlo IV in the second.

Chillicothe (16-8) took advantage of an infield hit by Nate Dorinsky and a Mill Rats error in the bottom of the second, scoring twice and tying the game at 2-2.

The Mill Rats plated three runs in the top of the third inning on a bases-loaded double by Jalen Freeman, putting Johnstown back in front at 5-2.

Dorinsky knocked home his second run of the night in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Owen Wilson on a triple to right center. Arturo Disla doubled to right center in the bottom of the fifth, scoring Orr and cutting the Johnstown lead to 6-4.

Carlo walked with the bases loaded in the top of the sixth, pushing home a run and making it 7-4. With the bases loaded, rain came, halting the game for 54 minutes before Miguel Vega tripled down the right field line, clearing the bases and making it 10-4 Mill Rats.

Cameron Bowen doubled home Dorinsky in the sixth to make it a five-run game at 10-5. He reached on a fielder's choice in the eighth, beating out the back end of a double-play effort, allowing Brayden White to score, cutting the Jonstown lead to 10-6. Tyler Shaneyfelt followed with an RBI single to right field, scoring Cole Kwiatkowski, getting the Paints within three at 10-7.

With two on and two out in the ninth, Wilson smacked an RBI double, scoring Orr and making it 10-8. Dorinsky followed by collecting his fourth hit and second double of the night, scoring White and Wilson, tying the game at 10-10 and forcing extra innings.

Bryson Brown came on to pitch the 10th for Chillicothe and, with the runner on second to start the inning, Carlo grounded to third for out number one while the runner had to hold at second. Gio Calamia followed, crushing a ball to deep right center field, where Kwiatkowski ran it down, making a leaping catch and then throwing in to second to double off the runner and send the game to the bottom of the ninth.

Bowen started the inning at second, advancing to third on a bunt single by Tyler Shaneyfelt. Johnstown elected to intentially walk Sean Kolenich to load the bases, brining up Orr, who blasted the first pitch he saw over the right field wall for a walk off grand slam.

Brown (3-0) earned the win with his scoreless 10th. Nick Falter started the game, allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits while walking one and striking out four over three innings. AJ Clegg pitched on inning, allowing a run on two hits while walking two and striking out three. Due to limitations on available pitchers, Sammy Stoner came in the pitch, allowing four runs on four hits, walking two and striking out one over two innings. Victor Figueroa then made his debut on the mound, working two scoreless innings while surrendering three hits, striking out one and hitting one. Cameron Macon also tossed a scoreless inning, working the ninth and walking one batter.

Cole Yeager (2-0) took the loss after a blown save, pitching the ninth and 10th innings for Johnstown, allowing seven runs, six earned, on five hits while walking two and striking out one. Tyler Horvat started and pitched five innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on eight hits, striking out one. Nick Guidas threw three innings for the Mill Rats, surrendering three runs on five hits, walking one and striking out four.
