Nothing Thrilling about the Goats’ Fifth Loss in a Row

JACKSON, Tenn.—The Rockabillys started their seven-game homestand off with a loss against the Thrillsville Thrillbillies Monday night. The Goats tried to make a comeback in the eighth inning but ultimately failed, losing 8-5.

The Rockabillys tied the Thrillbillies with twelve hits on the night. Nicho Jordan and Luke Lowery each doubled, and Carter Vrabel showcased his speed when he hit a triple to right field in the eighth inning. Brandon Valdez added to the excitement in the eighth, lacing a two-out pinch-hit single through the 5-6 hole to score Braden Vinyard.

Although the bats produced, the Goats in the pen couldn't hold the Thrillbillies at bay. Cade Davis started the game, throwing two innings of one hit, one run ball. However, the damage came against Will Ripoll, who came in for relief and allowed seven runs on ten hits in four innings. Josh Furtado, the third pitcher of the night for the Rockabillys, finished out the game strong, pitching the final three innings and giving up only one Thrillbillie hit and striking out five.

The Goats hope to end their losing streak in the series finale on Tuesday, June 6th, and take the thrill away from the Thrillbillies. The game will begin at 7:00 pm and is celebrated with Owens Corning as "School's Out, Teachers In" night. All teachers will be able to get $2.00 general admission tickets, and every teacher in attendance will have a chance to win a $500.00 classroom grant plus lots of fun and prizes all night long.

The Rockabillys will rest their hooves on Wednesday, June 7th, before playing five straight games on their home turf. Thursday, June 8th, is the beginning of a three-game set against the Alton River Dragons and will be the first Throwback Thursday of the season, featuring $2.00 prices on 16 oz. domestic beer, 16 oz. Coca-Cola products, hamburgers, and hotdogs. The night is being celebrated with Owens Corning.
