Paints Outlast Mill Rats 17-10

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, outlasted the Johnstown Mill Rats in a slugfest Thursday night at VA Memorial Stadium, earning a 17-10 victory over the Ohio River Valley Division rival.

Chillicothe (6-3) took an early lead with a run in the bottom of the second, thanks to a lead off double from Arturo Disla and an error, the first of five on the night for Johnstown (3-5), making it 1-0 Paints.

Johnstown immediately answered in the top of the third, scoring three times and taking a 3-1 lead.

The Paints got one back in the third on a sacrifice fly from Cole Kwiatkowski and then regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Gavin Ganun and Jack Gidcumb hit back-to-back singles to start the inning, Ganun scored on a deep fly ball by Wilson, Gidcumb came home on a wild pitch, making it 4-3 Chillicothe, they didn't relinquish the lead the rest of the way.

Chillicothe batted around in the sixth and seventh innings, scoring five runs on four hits in the sixth and six runs in the seventh. They added two more in the bottom of the eighth.

Disla, Cameron Bowen and Ganun each collected two hits for the Paints. Tim Orr drove in four on the night, while Kwiatkowski, Disla and Wilson collected a pair of RBIs each. Sammy Stoner, Bowen, Ganun and Jack Gidcumb each drove in one run.

Dylan Dudones (2-0) earned his second win of the season, allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings, walking two and striking out two. Cole Pauley entered when the game was 9-6 with two outs in the seventh, finishing the final 2 1/3 innings and earning his third save of the season after allowing four runs on five hits, walking one and striking out four.

The Paints wrap up the three-game homestand Thursday night at VA Memorial Stadium against the Champion City Kings at 7:05 p.m. It's a Thirsty Thursday and draft beer will be just $2.
