Bees Drop Home Finale in Extras

The Bees and the River Dragons duked it out over 11 innings, combining for 26 hits and 11 runs, before Alton prevailed 6-5.

With Bobby Helt on in relief to open the eleventh for Burlington, Alton right fielder Mike Hampton struck out swinging.  Center fielder Blake Burris hit a high hopper fielded by Bees' third baseman Jaden Hackbarth that went for a single.  Hackbarth's throw to first was in the dirt, allowing Burris to advance to second.  He went to third on a wild pitch.

Cameron Hailstone followed with a line drive to center.  Lincoln Riley made a sliding grab for the out, but could not recover to make the throw to home, as Burris scored the unearned, go ahead run.

Kalen Reardon closed out the bottom of the twelfth for the Dragons, working around a hit batter for the save.

The Bees came from down 4-2 with a run in the eighth, when Kevin Santiago drove home Lincoln Riley who had singled with one out.  That made it 4-3.

In the ninth, with one out, Charlie Terrill singled to center. After another out he stole second.  Cedric Dunnwald drove him home with an infield base hit.  The game headed to extra innings tied at four.

Both teams scored a run in the tenth setting up the decisive final frame.

Marcos Sanchez collected two runs batted in with his sixth home run of the year.

Burlington closes out the season with two games on the road against Quincy Friday and Saturday.
