Stranded Runners Cost Bees in 5-3 Loss to Alton

The Bees left runners in scoring position in six innings and stranded 11 total in a 5-3 loss to Alton Friday night.

The River Dragons' Adam Stilts was efficient over seven frames.  He escaped when he needed to, scattered nine hits.  He allowed three runs, walked none and struck out 7 to run his record to 4-4.  The righty used just 89 pitches to earn the win.  Noah Bush worked through trouble in the ninth to notch a save, his sixth.

Burlington starter Elijah Green took a tough loss.  It was his first outing for the Bees, though he throws at Community Field for Southeastern Community College.  The big right hander went five innings.  Only three of the five runs he allowed were earned.  He walked four and struck out three.

Brady Schiesl, Mt. Mercy University, also made his initial show for Burlington, shutting down the Dragons over four relief innings.  He gave up three hits, no runs and one walk, while striking out four.  Forty of his 59 pitches went for strikes.

Alex Brodie, in his second Bees start behind the plate, was 2-4 with a run batted in.  Marcos Sanchez had an RBI on his 2-5 outing.

The Bees has now dropped three in a row.  They will meet the River Dragons again Sunday at 2 PM.
