'Shoes Hand Bees 11-4 Win

Starter Garrett Moltzan has been a consistent, reliable resource for Burlington since he joined the club at the beginning of the 2021 season.  In what will be his final appearance for the Bees, things were no different for the Texas Wesleyan University graduated senior.

The stout righty went five innings, allowing three runs on nine scattered hits. He walked one and struck out two, earning an 11-4 win, his second of the year against three losses.  Moltzan ate up 32 innings in 7 starts in 2022.

The offensive side of the story for Burlington was patience at the plate.  Springfield pitchers combine to walk 11 batters.  Starter Corbin Bassham hit three more.  Fourteen free passes, plus an error, will always be a recipe for disaster.  Tonight was no exception, as the Lucky Horseshoes took a lop-sided loss in spite of out hitting Burlington 11 to six.

Bees' designated hitter Marcos Sanchez saw some pitches he liked.  He went 3 for 5 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored.  He has been red hot as of late, raising his batting average 31 points just in this game.

Catcher Nolan Elmore had two RBIs and scored two more for Burlington.

Brady Sadler and Bobby Helt made successful pitching debuts for the Bees.  Sadler picked up for Moltzan to open the sixth.  He tossed three no hit innings, walked two and struck out two.  Helt gave up a run on two hits over his inning of work.

The Bees, winners of four in a row, travel to Normal on Thursday before returning for a four game home stand.
