Curtis Out Duals Massner in 5-1 Bees Loss
Cauy Massner threw his longest outing of the year Monday night. The Mediapolis native went 7 full innings against the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes. He scattered eight hits, allowed 4 runs and kept his team in the game at a time of the season when arms are at a premium.
Lucky Horseshoes' Jake Curtis was even better. The infielder was called upon for the start. He delivered 8 full innings of 3 hit ball. The Lincoln Land Community College player allowed 1 run. He had two walks and struck out two, earning a 5-1 win.
The loss snapped Burlington's three game winning streak. The Bees move to 3-2 for the second half of the Prospect League season. Springfield is also 3-2.
Marcos Sanchez blasted his third home run in two days. His no doubter off Curtis came in the fourth.
Springfield designated hitter Payton Pennington was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 and scored once.
With both pitchers throwing strikes the game finished in 2 hours and 9 minutes.
