Curtis Out Duals Massner in 5-1 Bees Loss

Cauy Massner threw his longest outing of the year Monday night.  The Mediapolis native went 7 full innings against the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes.  He scattered eight hits, allowed 4 runs and kept his team in the game at a time of the season when arms are at a premium.

Lucky Horseshoes' Jake Curtis was even better.  The infielder was called upon for the start.  He delivered 8 full innings of 3 hit ball.  The Lincoln Land Community College player allowed 1 run.  He had two walks and struck out two, earning a 5-1 win.

The loss snapped Burlington's three game winning streak.  The Bees move to 3-2 for the second half of the Prospect League season.  Springfield is also 3-2.

Marcos Sanchez blasted his third home run in two days.  His no doubter off Curtis came in the fourth.

Springfield designated hitter Payton Pennington was 2-4 with a double.  He drove in 2 and scored once.

With both pitchers throwing strikes the game finished in 2 hours and 9 minutes.
