Falter's Strong Start, Orr and Disla's Home Runs Lead Paints To 5-1 Win in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, got back into the win column Saturday night, beating the REX 5-1 at Bob Warn Field.

Nick Falter (3-1) turned in his best start of the season, allowing just one run on two hits over seven innings while striking out seven and walking two.

Offensively, the Paints (23-12, 1-3) did the bulk of their damage in the top of the fourth inning. Tyler Shaneyfelt led off with an infield single and Tim Orr blasted his fourth home run of the season, making it 2-0. Owen wilson was then hit by a pitch and two batters later Arturo Disla hit his eighth home run of the season, giving the Paints a 4-0 lead.

The REX got the first two runners on base to start the bottom of the fifth, thanks to a walk and a hit batter. Chillicothe's defense then turned thier league-leading 32nd double play of the season. An infield hit by Jean Gonzalez brought home Morgan Colopy, accounting for the lone run of the night for the REX.

Chillicothe got that run back in the top of the eighth when Orr reached on an error, stole second, went to third on a groundout and scored on a balk, making it 5-1.

Jared Adams and Cole Pauley each threw scoreless innings in relief for Chillicothe.

Defensively, the Paints made several key plays beyond the aforementioned double play. With two on and one out in the bottom of the seventh, miscommunication allowed a fly ball to drop in right center field, but Ganun picked up the ball, firing a strike to second baseman Cole Kwiatkowski, who relayed to home where Jimmy Nugent tagged out a runner trying to score, wiping out a major threat for the REX. With a runner at first and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, Slater Schield hit a hard ground ball to the left side of the infield that looked like it would get through, but Owen Wilson made a diving stop from third base, throwing out the lead runner at second base from his knees, again quelling a scoring threat from the REX.

Chillicothe is now 5-0 vs the REX this season, outscoring them 40-11. The two will play each other for the final time in the regular season July 20 in Chillicothe.

The Paints have Sunday and Monday off, they return to action Tuesday in Johnstown, when they start a two-game series with the Mill Rats at 7 p.m. As always, fans can listen to the game for free on 100.9 WXIZ, ChillicothePaints.com and the free Paints mobile app. For a fee, the game can be seen on the Prospect League's video streaming service, PLTV.
