Cameron Walks It Off in the Rockabillys’ 15-14 Win over the Gems

JACKSON, Tenn.—On Leaders Night at the park, the Jackson Rockabillys, who brought in 16 new players, started their four-game homestand with a walk off win over the Quincy Gems, courtesy of an RBI single by centerfielder Griffin Cameron in the bottom of the 11th inning.

The Goats' offense as a whole scored 15 runs on 11 hits. Cameron had almost half of the total hits with five and also collected four RBIs. Second baseman Jake McCutcheon went one for one with a double, five walks, and three RBIs in the contest. Besides Cameron, first baseman Cole McCallum was the only other Rockabillys' hitter with multiple hits on the night. He also drove in two runs.

Southside graduate Tyler Smith got the start for the Goats and pitched 4.1 innings while giving up eight runs and striking out seven. Harrison Freeman and JD Klug each threw 1.1 innings. Freeman allowed four runs on two hits, and Klug surrendered no runs and only one hit. Lefty Peyton Charles hurled two innings and struck out three Gems in his Rockabillys' debut, while newcomer Chance Arender got the win after throwing the final two innings and allowing just two runs.

Next up for the Goats is the series finale with the Gems on Saturday, July 22nd. The Will Beyer Band will play after the game as the final Extra Innings Band of the season.

On Sunday, July 23rd, the Rockabillys will host the last Texas Roadhouse Family Sunday of the summer against the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp in which the first 1,500 fans will receive a pop-up cowboy hat courtesy of PRA Group and Froggy 104. Fans will also get to enjoy the Tractor Supply Kids Korral.
