Rockabillys Fall to the Catfish in Inaugural Home Opener

JACKSON, Tenn.—The Rockabillys lost their inaugural home opener 13-4 to the Cape Catfish of Cape Girardeau, Mo. The night was full of festivities, including numerous giveaways and Friday Night Fireworks.

Tyler Smith, former standout at Southside High School, started the game for the Rockabillys, going five innings while striking out ten and allowing three earned runs. Going into the third inning, the Rockabillys led 2-1 after a single from Mason Krznarich scored Dalton Rudd in the first and a single from Tyler Macon scored Wesley Mann in the second.

The Catfish scored two in the top of the third to make the score 3-2, but the Rockabillys took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Mann hit a two-run homerun, scoring Luke Lowery.

However, the lead was short-lived. The Catfish scored one in the top of the sixth to tie the game and went on to score two in the seventh, one in the eighth, and six in the ninth with the final score being 13-4.

Next up for the Rockabillys is a road matchup with the Catfish on Saturday, June 3rd, at 6:35 pm in Cape Girardeau. The Rockabillys will return home on Monday, June 5th, for the beginning of a two-game series against the Thrillsville Thrillbillies of Marion, Ill. First pitch will be at 7:00 pm, and the stadium will also feature exciting stunts from Tyler's Amazing Balancing Act.
