Goats Chopped Down by LumberKings in First Game of the Series

JACKSON, Tenn.—In the first of a two-game set with the Clinton LumberKings, the Rockabillys lost for the second straight night.

The Goats jumped out to a 2-0 lead after designated hitter Wesley Mann slugged a two-run homerun in the top of the first. However, the LumberKings took the lead in the bottom of the second. The Rockabillys were able to score four runs in the sixth inning courtesy of Tyler Heckert's RBI walk, James Denten's two-RBI single, and Braden Vinyard's RBI single, making the score 6-4, but the LumberKings went on to plate nine more runs with the final being 13-6.

Riley Mertl and Jamal Allen combined to finish out the game with Mertl giving up three runs in his 1.1 innings of work and Allen pitching one inning of no-run ball.

The Rockabillys and LumberKings play the finale of their series on Friday, June 30th, and the Goats travel to Burlington to play the Bees on Saturday, July 1st.
