Paints Win Fifth Straight, Beat Kings 8-7 in 10 Innings

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, picked up their fifth-consecutive win Sunday night at VA Memorial Stadium, beating the Champion City Kings 8-7 in 10 innings.

The Paints have won 16 of their last 20 and own the Prospect League's best record at 38-16.

Chillicothe took an early 2-0 lead, scoring a run in the bottom of the second inning on a Sammy Stoner groundout and one in the bottom of the third on CJ Dean's RBI single.

In the bottom of the fifth, Cameron Bowen, Owen Wilson and Tim Orr eached singled, loading the bases. Victor Figueora followed with a grand slam over the batter's eye in straight-away center field, making it 6-0.

Champion City (27-27, 17-8) answered with three runs in the next half-inning, scoring on a Ben Bach home run, an RBI single by Blake Buzzeo and a sacrifice fly by Hilario De La Paz III, cutting the Chillicothe lead in half at 6-3.

The Kings took the lead in the top of the seventh, scoring four unearned runs on two hits and two Paints errors, giving the visitors the lead for the first time at 7-6.

Chillicothe tied the gamw at 7-7 in the botton of the eighth, scoring on a throwing error.

With CJ Carmichael starting the bottom of the tenth at second base, Sammy Stoner laid down a bunt single, moving Carmichael to third. The Kings intentionally walked Bowen, loading the bases with no outs. Wilson hit a slow roller toward the pitcher's mound and the glove-flip home wasn't in time, allowing Carmichael score and giving the Paints the 8-7 win.

The Paints have Monday and Tuesday off, they'll return to action Wednesday against the Kings at Carleton Davidson Stadium in Springfield, Ohio, at 6:35 p.m.
