Figueroa Homers Twice, Paints Win 8-5 in Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, opened a two-game series in Johnstown with an 8-5 win over the Mill Rats Tuesday night at Sargent's Stadium at the Point.

The Paints (24-12, 2-3) got things started in the top of the first. Victor Figueroa hit a two-run home run, scoring Tyler Shaneyfelt, who led the game off with a walk, making it 2-0 early.

A lead off triple by newcomer Mason Eckelman in the second inning sparked another two-run inning for Chillicothe. Eckelman scored on a one-out single from Cameron Bowen. Bowen then stole second and third before scoring on an RBI groundout from Owen Wilson, making it 4-0.

Johnstown (13-22, 1-5) got its first run in the bottom of the second. Tyson Bryant-Dawson walked with two outs, later scoring from first on an RBI double by Miguel Vega, cutting it to a 4-1 ballgame.

Randy Carlo IV hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third, getting the Mill Rats to within two runs at 4-2.

After Tim Orr led off the top of the fifth with an infield single, Figueroa launched his second two-run home run of the night, making it 6-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, Gio Calamia collected a pinch-hit double, moving to third on a wild pitch and scoring on a single by Tyler Quade, making it 6-3.

Chillicothe tacked on a run in the seventh with Wilson, who led off with a double, scoring on a two-out single by Arturo Disla. Disla drove in another in the ninth, this time with a double down the line in right, making it 8-3.

Johnstown plated a couple runs in the bottom ninth and got the tying run aboard, but left the bases loaded.

Mikey Olivieri (1-0) got the win in relief after not allowing a run and surrendering three hits while striking out two and walking one over 2 2/3 innings. Luke Walter started for the Paints, allowing three runs on three hits, walking eight and striking out three over 4 1/3 innings. Scotty Adelman made his Paints' debut, allowing two runs on two hits while walking two and striking out two over the final two innings.

Johnstown starter Caden Goodwin (0-1) took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits, walking three and striking out three in four innings of work.

The Paints and Mill Rats play again in Johnstown Wednesday at 7 p.m.
