Paints Lose Pitcher's Duel To Danville, 3-2

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, came up on the short end of a pitcher's duel Friday night at VA Memorial Stadium, losing the Danville Dans 3-2.

Danville wasted no time opening the game, scoring three runs on four hits and taking a 3-0 lead four batters into the ballpame. It's all the offense they'd get on the night, and it's all they needed.

From that point, Nick Falter held the Dans scoreless over the next five innings. The right-hander ended up allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out five over six innings.

Dans starter Tyler Fay kept the Paints hitters off balance, allowing just one run on two hits and striking out 10 over six innings.

Chillicothe finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Tim Orr walked with one out and scored from first on a two-out double by Mason Eckelman, cutting it to a 3-1 ballgame.

Connor Nation came in and worked a scoreless seventh inning, then gave way to Blake Binderup to start the eighth.

The Paints got a lead off baserunner, a Tyler Shaneyfelt walk. After advancing to second on a groundout, he scored on an RBI infield hit by Cole Kwiatkowski, bringing Chillicothe within one at 3-2.

Jackson Bergman threw the final three innings for Chillicothe, striking out three and allowing just one baserunner when he hit a batter in the ninth.

In the bottom of the ninth, Gavin Ganun worked a two-out walk, putting the tying run on. Cameron Bowen hit a ball deep to right field, but the ball was caught up against the wall to end the game.

Chillicothe hosts Johnstown Saturday night at VA Memorial Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The first 500 fans 21 and over to the ballpark receive a free Budweiser keychain. The Basement Collective will be playing live on the deck after the game for "Party with the Paints", sponsored by Budweiser.
