Paints Win Third Straight, Beat Clinton 9-7

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, won their third straight game Saturday night, beating the Clinton LumberKings 9-7 at VA Memorial Stadium.

The Paints (10-7) jumped out to a quick lead in the bottom of the first on Cameron Bowen lead off home run. Caleb Vaughn walked two batters later, Arturo Disla was hit by a pitch, putting runners at first and second with one out. Victor Figuero doubled, scoring Vaughn and making it 2-0. After Gavin Ganun was hit by a pitch, Brayden White singled, knocking home two more, extending the lead to 4-0.

Clinton (10-6) got on the board in the top of the third, scoring on back-to-back two-out doubles from Will Stark and Trevor Burkhart, making it a 4-1 ballgame.

Gavin Ganun hit a solo home run for the Paints in the bottom of the third, restoring the four-run lead at 5-1. 

In the bottom of the fourth, Bowen led off with a walk and Sean Kolenich hit a two-run home run, running it to a 7-1 lead. Vaughn followed with a single and Arturo Disla then hit a two-run home run, making the Paints lead 9-1.

Clinton would score the next six runs of the game, five in the fifth and one in the seventh, but Chillicothe was able to hang on for the win.

Bryson Brown (1-0) earned the win for Chillicothe, throwing 1 2/3 innings in relief and allowing one run on two hits, walking one and striking out one. Chad Rogers pitched a scoreless ninth, allowing a hit, striking out two and walking one to earn his first save of the season. Landon Vance also worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the Paints.

Clinton's starting pitcher Logan Schmitt (1-1) took the loss, allowing four runs on three hits and walking two over just 1/3 of an inning. 

The Paints have Sunday and Monday off, they return to action Tuesday, when the LumberKings come back to VA Memorial Stadium for a 7:05 p.m. contest.
