Tyler Smith Hurls Five Solid Innings of Two-Run Ball in Rockabillys Loss to Cape

JACKSON, Tenn.—On Throwback Thursday night, the Goats lost a close game to the Cape Catfish 4-2.

Southside graduate Tyler Smith started on the mound and allowed only two runs in five innings of work while striking out five. Roman Smith threw two scoreless innings in relief, and Jamal Allen got the loss after giving up two runs in two innings.

The Rockabillys jumped out to early 1-0 lead when third baseman Carter Vrabel hit a single in the bottom of the first to score leftfielder Luke Lowery, and they tied the game 2-2 in the eighth. However, the Goats ultimately couldn't best the four runs put up by the Catfish.

Next, the Rockabillys begin a two-game set with the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes on Friday, July 7th, and afterwards, fans can stay to enjoy Friday Night Fireworks.

On Saturday, July 8th, Jackson and Springfield wrap up the series, and Vintage Band will perform after the game as the third Extra Innings Band of the season.
