Paints Lose To Champion City, 11-1

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, suffered a mercy-rule loss for the first time this season, losing 11-1 in seven innings to the Champion City Kings Thursday night at VA Memorial Stadium.

Champion City (2-6) snapped a six-game losing skid, earning their first win since Opening Day. The win snapped a four-game losing streak against the Paints (6-4).

The Kings scored two in the second, two in the third, then broke it open with five in the fifth, taking a 9-0 lead.

Chillicothe finally got its lone run in the bottom of the sixth. Tyler Shaneyfelt worked a lead off walk, stole second and scored on a single by Arturo Disla, making it a 9-1 ballgame.

Champion City scored two more runs int he seventh, making it a 10-run game at 11-1. With the Paints unable to score a run in the bottom of the inning, the game ended due to the Prospect League's mercy rule.

The Paints hit the road Friday for a two-game series against the Mill Rats in Johnstown, Pa. First pitch Friday and Saturday is set for 7 p.m. As always, the games can be heard on 100.9 WXIZ, ChillicothePaints.com and the free Paints mobile app.
