Goats Come Out on Top in Slugfest with the River Dragons

JACKSON, Tenn.—The Rockabillys extended their win streak to two games on Thursday night as they bested the Alton River Dragons 16-10 in the series opener.

The bats stayed alive throughout the almost four-hour long contest with nine Rockabillys players recording at least one run batted in. Hayden Collins, Luke Lowery, and Jake McCutcheon each collected two RBIs, and Dalton Rudd led with the team with three RBIs on the night. Griffin Cameron, James Denten, Rudd, Lowery, and Collins all had two hits, and McCutcheon was three for three in his at-bats.

The Rockabillys used four pitchers in the game. Riley Mertl started for the Goats, allowing three runs in 2.2 innings pitched. Noah Wood was first out of the bullpen. He threw 2.1 innings and gave up two runs. Roman Smith threw the next two innings and surrendered four runs on three hits. Josh Furtado closed the game out, striking out three Dragons while only allowing one run.

The Goats continue the series Friday, June 9th, with Tyler Smith, Southside High School graduate, getting his second start on the rubber. After the game, fans can enjoy Friday Night Fireworks.

The series finale will commence on Saturday, June 10th, and Southern Express will take the stage following the matchup as the Rockabillys host their first Extra Innings Band of the summer.
