Alton Pitchers Dominate In 6-2 Win At Burlington

BURLINGTON, Iowa - Three Alton River Dragons pitchers combined to shut down the Burlington Bees in a 6-2 victory at Community Field Sunday afternoon.

Alex Redman earned the win going the first five innings, allowing two runs on five hits to earn the win.  He was followed by Brady Salzman who faced one over the minimum the next three innings and Carson Richardson who pitched a clean ninth.

The win completes a two-game sweep of the series for the River Dragons.

Offensively, Troy Johnson matched a single-game team record with four steals while Marcus Heusohn and Eddie King Jr. each had two hits.

Burlington twice took the lead, but each time Alton responded.  After Burlington scored in the third to lead 1-0, the River Dragons answered in the fourth.  Johnson walked to lead off the inning and scored on King's double to left.

Burlington again scored in the fifth to lead 2-1, only to have the River Dragons come back again in the sixth.

Blake Burris clubbed a triple off the right field fence, scoring Ethan Kleinhaider from first, tying the score.  Alton took the lead on King's RBI single to left and made it 4-2 on a Heusohn single.

In the seventh, Johnson added a RBI single extending the lead to 5-2, and Gunnar Doyle brought in a run with a fielder's choice in the eighth to cap the score at 6-2.

It's the 14th come back win of the season for the River Dragons.
