Kearbey Ties Team Record, Alton Wins 10-0

ALTON, Ill. - The first time Shane Kearbey laid eyes on his new Alton River Dragons teammates was just two hours before first pitch Wednesday at Lloyd Hopkins Field.

By the end of the game, everyone quickly knew who he was.

Making his Prospect League debut, Kearbey matched a team-record with nine strikeouts and pitched a seven-inning complete game 10-0 shutout victory over the Burlington Bees.  Per league rules, the game ended after the top of the seventh due to the 10-run "mercy rule" Its the first "mercy rule" win for the River Dragons who've won five of their last seven.

Kearbey scattered four hits and walked just one in a dominate performance.

At the plate, Mike Hampton drove in four runs and Blake Burris had three RBI on three hits.

The River Dragons scored three runs apiece in the second and third innings to break the game open. 

The River Dragons play at Quincy Thursday night before returning to Lloyd Hopkins Field to face O'Fallon on Friday.
