LumberKings Enter The Win Column Thursday Night

CLINTON, Iowa – In the second game of the season, the Clinton LumberKings used timely hitting and great pitching to get the better of the Normal CornBelters on Thursday night, with a final score of 9-5.
 
The big bat for the LumberKings was right fielder Tommy Specht (University of Kentucky). The lefty had three big hits for Clinton, including two doubles and three RBIs.
 
Jeremy Conforti (College of DuPage) contributed as well with two RBIs of his own, including a big two-run double in the second inning.
 
On the mound for Clinton it was three Mount Mercy Mustangs getting the job done. It started with Kobey Schlotman (Mount Mercy University). In four innings of work Schlotman struck out seven, allowed two hits and gave up just two earned runs.
 
Kale Orman (Mount Mercy University) followed. He was impressive getting out of bases loaded and nobody out jam in the fifth inning. The righty ended up going three innings and striking out five. Orman also tallied the win for the LumberKings.
 
Finally it was Tyler Stern (Mount Mercy University). The big right hander went two innings and struck out a pair, finishing the game for the LumberKings.
 
Clinton took the win 9-5, securing their first victory of the season.
 
Next, the LumberKings will travel on the road for the first time this season starting tomorrow night against the Quincy Gems, first pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. in Quincy, Ill.
