Paints Outlast Mill Rats In Pitcher's Duel, Win 4-1 In 10 Innings.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, went on the road and outlasted the Mill Rats in a 4-1 win at Johnstown's Sargent's Stadium at the Point Friday night.

Chillicothe's (5-3) Gunnar Boehm and Johnstown's (4-5) Matthew Benton were locked into a pitcher's duel, holding the game scoreless through five innings.

The Paints finally broke through in the sixth. Nate Dorinsky singled with one out, advancing to second on a passed ball, later scoring on a single by Tim Orr. The Mill Rats tied the game in the bottom half with a run of their own.

The game stayed tied into the 10th inning. With one out, Jeron Williams entered as pinch hitter, reaching on a throwing error that went out of play, putting him at second base. Williams then stole third. A Santrel Farmer walk put runners on the corners. On a two-strike count, Dorinsky singled to right, scoring Williams. Farmer and Dorinsky moved up to third and second on the throw home. Ben Gbur followed with a two-run single, making it 4-1 Chillicothe.

Johnstown got a couple runners on in the bottom of the ninth on a hit-by-pitch and a walk. Randy Carlo IV hit a sinking line drive to center field that was caught by a diving Gbur. A passed ball moved runners to second and third, but a strikeout and a groundout ended the game with the Paints earning their second straight win.

Boehm got a no decision for his outing, allowing one run on four hits, walking one and striking out seven. Nick Lallathin (3-0) earned the win in relief, allowing just two hits, walking one and striking out one over 3 2/3 innings.

The Paints and the Mill Rats play again in Johnstown Saturday in a doubleheader that begins at 5 p.m.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Chillicothe Paints tallied three runs in the top of the 10th inning to break a 1-all tie and defeat the Johnstown Mill Rats 4-1 in a Prospect League matchup on Friday night.

With one out, pinch hitter Jeron Williams reached first base on an error and was later brought home by a Nate Dorinsky single to give the Paints a 2-1 lead. Ben Gbur followed with a two-run single to give Chillicothe its two insurance runs.

Johnstown threatened with runners on second and third with one out in the bottom half, but Nick Lallathin induced a strikeout and a groundout to end the game.

Lallathin earned the win after throwing 3 2⁄3 innings of scoreless relief, giving up just two hits while walking one and striking out three. Johnstown reliever Sean Furlong was given the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits over four innings. Furlong walked one and struck out three.

The game's starters Matthew Benton of Johnstown and Chillicothe's Gunnar Boehm turned the contest into a pitcher's duel, keeping the game scoreless until the top of the sixth.

Tim Orr drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single, giving the Paints a 1-0 advantage. The Mill Rats answered right back in the bottom half, tying the game when Jake Casey trotted home after Matt Santarelli stole second.

Casey and Lucas Torres topped the Mill Rats with two hits apiece. Dorinsky and Gbur each had two hits for the Paints.

Boehm finished throwing 6 1⁄3 innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out seven. Benton fanned three batters over six innings while allowing one run on four hits.

Johnstown (4-5) hosts Chillicothe (4-3) in a doubleheader on Saturday, with Game 1 set to start at 5 p.m.
