Dans Out-Slug Paints in 11-7 Win

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, scored first, but couldn't keep up with Danville's offense, losing to the Dans 11-7 Friday night at VA Memorial Stadium.

The Paints (11-4) started off hot, opening the bottom of the first with a Jeron Williams triple. Brett Carson reached on an error at third, scoring Williams and giving Chillicothe a 1-0 lead.

Danville (10-6) got the run back in the third on an RBI groundout by Carlos Vasquez, tying the game at 1-1. 

In the fifth inning, the Dans would get their first lead of the game on an RBI double to right by Gray Bane, which was shortly followed by a single to right by Jonathon Thomas, giving Danville a 3-1 lead. They'd capitalize on a wild pitch to score again in the inning, extending their lead to 4-1. 

Danville would continue to score, thanks to a three-run home run in the sixth by Trey Higgins III, stretching their lead to 7-1.

The Dans talked on two more runs in the top of the seventh on a Cm Swanger home run, bringing the score to 9-1.

It would take untill the bottom of the seventh for Chillicothe to score again, with Cameron Bowen taking home on a wild pitch and cutting the deficit to 9-2.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Paints would start to make things interesting. A fielder's choice off the bat of Connor Ashby scored Tim Orr, making it a 9-3 game. Brett Hilsheimer would add another run for Chillicothe on an RBI single to shallow centerfield, bmaking it 9-4. Later, an RBI groundout from Bowen brough it to 9-5. Williams would add on to the rally with a two-out RBI double, getting the Paints to within three runs at 9-6.

Danville's offense never stopped. They scored again in the top of the ninth on a single by BJ Banjon, taking their lead back to four runs at 10-6. After a strikeout, Danville plated another on an RBI single by Higgins, giving them an 11-6 lead going into the bottom of the ninth.

The Paints would get one back on a passed ball with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, making the score 11-7, but that as close as Chillicothe got.

The Paints look to start another winning streak tomorrow night as they have a doubleheader against the West Virginia Miners at VA Memorial Stadium. Both games will be seven innings and game one will start at 5:35 pm. After game two, it's the annual Diamond Giveaway by Dixon Jewelers.
