Starting Pitching Continues Impressive Stretch In Win Sunday

CLINTON, Iowa - On the second Copa Day of the season the Clinton Elotes won their fourth game in a row in a matinee affair against the Alton River Dragons at NelsonCorp Field.

For the third consecutive day the Elotes used a tremendous starting pitching performance to propel them in the early going. Brody Brecht (Iowa) made his second start of the season, striking out nine batters and allowing zero hits over 2.2 scoreless innings.

Offensively it was one big inning for Clinton. In the bottom of the fourth Clinton put up a four spot, highlighted by a Trevor Burkhart (LSU-Shreveport) two-run double and an RBI single from Matt Scherrman (UW-Oshkosh).

In the bullpen Clinton hurlers allowed just two runs between appearances from Jacob Norris (Des Moines Area CC), who went 4.1 scoreless innings and Kale Orman (Mount Mercy).

The Elotes won the game 4-2 and the victory puts Clinton (10-9) in a virtual tie atop the Great River Division with the Normal CornBelters (9-8).

Alton and Clinton will face off once again tomorrow night at NelsonCorp Field.

First Pitch Scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
