Kings Stifle Paints In 7-4 Win

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, were unable to find much offense in a 7-4 loss to the Champion City Kings Friday night at Carleton Davidson Stadium in Springfield. 

Champion City (6-15) starting pitcher Kyler Archual held Chillicothe (15-8) scoreless through six innings, while the Kings' offense built a 5-0 lead.

In the top of the seventh, after a one-out walk to Mike Sprockett, Nate Dorinsky hit his first home run of the season, cutting the deficit to 5-2.

The Kings got those back in the bottom of the eighth inning on a two-run double by Edrick Padilla, making it 7-2.

After a one-out double in the top of the ninth, Josh McAlister launched a two-run home run, his first of the year, getting the Paints to within three at 7-4. Brett Hilsheimer was hit by a pitch, but a double play hit into by Connor Ashby ended the ballgame. 

Archual (1-1) earned his first win of the season, allowing two runs on four hits, walking two and striking out six over 7 2/3 innings. Noah Penney earned his first save of the season after getting the final two outs. Chillicothe starter Gunnar Boehm (0-2) suffered his second loss of the year, allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits, walking six and striking out two over 4 2/3 innings.

Chillicothe returns home to VA Memorial Stadium Saturday night for a 7:05 p.m. game against the West Virginia Miners. It's "Party with the Paints", presented by Budweiser, featuring a postgame concert on the deck by Filo Beddoe and a chance to mingle with Paints players.
