ALTON, Ill. -  The Alton River Dragons scored eight unanswered runs to defeat the Quincy Gems 10-6 in a lighting shortened 8-inning decision at Lloyd Hopkins Field Saturday night.

Kurtis Reid drove in three runs, including his first collegiate homer. Marcus Heusohn also had three RBI on two-hits and Blake Stenger delivered a season-best three hits and reached safely four times.

On the mound, Colin Salter picked up the win with three scoreless relief innings.

The win, coupled with O'Fallon's loss moves the River Dragons to just 1/2 game out of first place with one week remaining in the "early-bird" race and sets up a crucial meeting at O'Fallon Sunday night.

On Saturday, Quincy had taken a 6-2 lead in the top of the fourth, aided by a pair of costly defensive miscues by the River Dragons.

However, in the bottom of the fifth, Heusohn came through with a two-out, two-run single that brought Alton to within 6-4 and sparked life.  The in the seventh inning, the River Dragons sent 10 batters to the plate, scoring six runs.  Reid had a two-run single and Heusohn had another RBI single to highlight the inning.

The win is the eighth comeback win, and second largest deficit that turned into a victory, this season.
