Carlson Tosses One-Hit Shutout for Dans

DANVILLE, Ill. – Parker Carlson took the mound for the Danville Dans in his second start of the season, and 24 batters later walked off the field with a one-hit 14-0 shutout of the Normal Cornbelters.

Carlson, a freshman from Auburn University, gave up his only hit in the fourth inning to Normal's Jeremy Figueroa. The only other batters to reach walked in the sixth inning. Carlson struck out 13 on the night and maintained his 0.00 ERA over 17.2 innings.

The Dans tallied three runs in the first, seven in the third and added four in the fifth. Cam Swanger (St. Louis University) had a two-run homer in the 1st, and Keenan Taylor (Parkland College) added two-run dinger in the 3rd inning. Also in the third, BJ Banyon (University of Memphis) inherited a 0-2 count from Trey Higgins after the Mississippi State freshman fouled a ball off his leg. Three pitches later Banyon lined a triple down the right field line, driving in three runs.
