PERU, Ill. - The Clinton LumberKings ended a four-game road trip on Tuesday night, losing to the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp 7-5.

The Pistol Shrimp opened the scoring in the first. Luke Adams (Michigan St) hammered a two-run homer, giving Illinois Valley the early 2-0 advantage.

Clinton responded with a long ball of their own in the top half of the second. Jeremy Conforti (College of DuPage) drilled his fourth home run of the season to cut the deficit in half.

In the bottom half of the second, Illinois Valley continued the theme of home runs. Cole Luckey (Bradley) extended the lead with a solo homer of his own, and Luke Adams once again did damage with an RBI on a fielder's choice. After two, the Pistol Shrimp were on top 4-1.

In the fifth, the LumberKings crawled all the way back. Matt Scherrman (UW-Oshkosh) cracked a solo home run. Later in the inning Tyler Dahm (Mount Mercy) tied the ball game with a RBI on a fielder's choice.

Clinton took their first lead in the sixth. Adam Weed scored when catcher Logan Delgado (Bradley) committed an error on a throw to third, trying to get Weed swiping the bag. After the play Clinton was in the lead 5-4.

Illinois Valley, trailing for the first time in the contest, responded. Cole Luckey continued to swing a good bat, tying the game back up with an RBI single in the seventh.

In the eighth the Pistol Shrimp pulled away. Tucker Bougie (California) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Evan Evola (Webster University) added insurance with a solo home run.
