Dans Win Again, Beat Aviators 4-2

DANVILLE, Ill. - Danville's eighth win in a row didn't come easy, but fantastic pitching proved to give them the edge yet again.

Auburn pitcher Parker Carlson entered tonight's game having thrown 17.2 scoreless innings, extending that streak to 22.2 after his performance. He started off the first inning with a rare 4 strikeouts, ending the night with 6 total, allowing only 2 hits, and one walk.

After Carlson, Kevin Fee entered and threw three innings while only allowing one hit and one walk, while tacking on 3 strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season. Landon Tompkins completed the Dans' dominant pitching night by picking up the save.

On the other side of the ball, it was a balanced night for the Dans, who picked up 6 hits off of Lafayette pitching. Carlos Vasquez had two singles on the night, picking up an RBI in the seventh, where Danville scored three runs. It was a slow start for the offense, as Aviators pitcher Nick Yeager retired the first 14 Danville batters without allowing a baserunner. Yeager finished the game while only allowing one hit and two walks with one earned run and 8 K's on the night, while still picking up the loss in a stellar performance.

Lafayette scored two runs in the eighth to make it a two-run game, off of two Danville errors. The Aviators finished the night with 4 hits, including three singles from Ethan Bedgood, and a double from Cade Fitzpatrick.

Danville improved to a league best 28-9 after tonight's win. A 7-0 start in the second half keeps them on top in the division.
