Dans With Ninth-Straight, Beat Paints 7-3 In Chillicothe

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, couldn't get the hit they needed in a 7-3 loss to the Danville Dans Wednesday night at VA Memorial Stadium.

Chillicothe (4-2, 25-13) took a first-inning lead. Owen Wilson tripled to start the bottom of the first, later scoring on a ground ball from Tim Orr that was misplayed at second base.

Danville (8-0, 29-9) tied things up at one in the of the third on a solo home run off the bat of Will Portera.

The Dans would strike again in the top of the fifth inning, taking a 2-1 lead on a double to the right-center field wall by Will Carpenter that plated Paxton Kling.

After loading the bases on a hit batter and two walks in the sixth, the Dans scored on a wild pitch, extending their lead to 3-1. Jonathan Thomas of Danville got another run across on an RBI groundout, making the score 4-1. 

In the top of the seventh, Danville added to its lead on a single up the middle by Jack Ellis, scoring Keenan Taylor and making it 5-1.

The Paints loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, scoring a run when Cameron Bowen came home on a wild, cutting the Danville lead to 5-2. 

A sacrifice fly by Danville added another in the eighth, pushing the lead to 6-2. BJ Banyon hit an inside-the-park home run in the ninth, making it 7-2.

Chillicothe got its only hit of the night with a runner on base (1-23 on the night) in the ninth on a Ben Gbur double with Wilson, who reached earlier on a single, moving to third. Wilson scored on a sacrifice fly by Tim Orr, closing the scoring with the Dans up 7-3.

The Paints will be back in action tomorrow night when they battle the Champion City Kings in Springfield, first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
