Clinton Gets Back In Win Column Wednesday Night

CLINTON, Iowa - The Clinton LumberKings four-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday night, in a 8-4 victory over the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp. 
 
The LumberKings offense was hot out of the gate. Luke Ira (South Dakota St), with the bases loaded, tripled in all three runs to give the LumberKings an early 3-0 lead.
 
In the second Clinton doubled their lead. Adam Weed (University of Illinois Chicago) recorded an RBI on a fielding error, scoring Joe Simpson (Kirkwood CC) from third base. Later, Jeremy Conforti (College of DuPage) knocked in another LumberKings run with a single. Clinton in the inning loaded the bases and Luke Ira grabbed his fourth RBI of the game with a walk. After two innings Clinton led the game 6-0. 
 
Clinton would tally two more in the ball game and Illinois Valley could not crawl back with the LumbeKings getting the win 8-4.
 
Ben Beutel (Iowa) collected his second win of the season. In the start the lefty went 5.2 innings, struck out four batters and allowed just three runs. Illinois Valley's Teague Conrad (Heartland CC) collected the loss, his second of the year.
 
In relief Logan Schmitt (Kirkwood CC) was solid for Clinton. The right-hander went two scoreless innings and closed the game out for Clinton. 
 
The LumberKings now take on the Normal CornBelters tomorrow night at NelsonCorp Field.
 
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
 
It will be Lyons Business and Professional Night at the ballpark.
