'Shrimp Grab Comeback Win At Clinton

CLINTON, Iowa - On Thursday Night the Clinton LumberKings opened up a five game homestand against the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp, surrendering a 7-1 lead in the eighth inning. 
 
The LumberKings led throughout most of the matchup. Clinton's offense put up four runs in the bottom half of the first inning. Runs batted in (RBI) from Jeremy Conforti (College of Dupage), Rayth Petersen (University of Illinois Chicago) and Tyler Dahm (Mount Mercy University) helped the LumberKings to a 4-0 lead. 
 
Clinton starter Seth Clausen (Minnesota) was superb in his start. The righty went 5.2 innings, allowed one run, two hits and struck out eight. 
 
After Illinois Valley scored a single run in the top of the sixth, the LumberKings plated three more in the bottom of the seventh. Cade Moss (Iowa) collected an RBI with a single and Kyle Lehmann (USC-Upstate) plated two with a double. After seven innings the LumberKings led 7-1.
 
In the eighth the Pistol Shrimp battled back. After scoring one, Cole Luckey (Bradley University) doubled in two runs to bring the Pistol Shrimp to within three. Later in the inning Kevin Parker (University of Hawaii) singled, scoring Luckey. The Pistol Shrimp scored two more tying the game up at seven. The tying run came across on a Zach Lane (Ball State) RBI double plating Justin Rios (North Central College)
 
In the ninth Illinois Valley took the lead. Facing LumberKings' reliever Cole Conner (Oakton CC), catcher Alton Gyselman singled, Evan Evola (Webster University) scored and Illinois Valley led 8-7.
 
Clinton went down in order in the ninth, losing their fourth game in a row.
 
The LumberKings will face the Quincy Gems tomorrow night at NelsonCorp Field.
 
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Post-game fireworks will be after the conclusion of the game.
