TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, led four-nothing four batters into the game on a Mike Sprockett grand slam, but weren't able to push across a run the rest of the night, falling 5-4 to the REX at Bob Warn Field Monday night.

Chillicothe (14-10, 35-20) was only able to collect five hits on the night, three from Sprockett and two from Brett Carson.

The REX (15-10, 34-21) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first on a two-out, two-run double by Brandon Boxer, cutting the Paints' lead in half at 4-2.

Kody Putnam led off the bottom of the fourth with a single, scoring two batters later on a single by Alec Brunson, who collected his 50th RBI of the season, to make it a one-run game at 4-3.

In the bottom of the eighth, David Miller walked to leadoff the inning. Three batters later, Robert Ciulla doubled home Miller, tying the game at 4-4. Brunson followed with an RBI single, giving the REX their first lead of the game at 5-4.

Chillicothe got the tying run to third with a potential go-ahead runner at second with two outs in the top of the ninth, but a strikeout ended the ballgame.

The Paints are back in action Tuesday taking on the Aviators at Lafayette's Loeb Stadium at 7 p.m.
