Prospect League Celebrates 60 Years of Baseball

MAHOMET, Ill. - The Prospect League, home to elite collegiate baseball players from across the country, is celebrating its rich history in 2023. Originally known as the Central Illinois Collegiate League (CICL) from 1963-2008, the Prospect League's 2023 season will mark its 60th year of summer collegiate baseball.

To celebrate 60 years, the Prospect League will roll out digital content dating back to its origins as the CICL in a lead up to the new season. A special countdown profiling 60 notable names from the league's history will appear daily on Prospect League social media beginning April 1 until opening day on May 31.

In addition, beginning next week the league will debut its brand-new video podcast. The Prospect League Podcast, hosted by Lucas Burris, will focus on league history leading into the season with guests varying from past to present. The podcast can be viewed on the newly launched Prospect League YouTube channel or heard on any podcast platform.

Specific "Celebrating 60 Years of Baseball" branding, featuring a nod to the current Prospect League and its CICL past, will also appear throughout Prospect League content, helping the league mark its historic celebration.

The Prospect League website features multiple sections on its history and you can learn more about the history of the Prospect League here.
