Noah Suarez Named Alton River Dragons Head Coach

Alton, Ill. – The Alton River Dragons are thrilled to announce the appointment of recently named head baseball coach at Eureka College, Noah Suarez as their new Head Coach for 2024, as confirmed by River Dragons General Manager Dallas Martz. Suarez, whose coaching prowess and impressive track record have made waves in the baseball world, is set to bring his expertise and unwavering commitment to excellence to the Alton River Dragons.

Noah Suarez's journey to becoming the Head Coach of the Alton River Dragons is marked by a series of remarkable achievements in a short span of time. Prior to joining the River Dragons, Suarez served as the Head Coach at Philander Smith University in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he orchestrated the successful relaunch of the baseball program after a 45-year hiatus.

In 2022, Suarez embarked on the challenging task of reviving the Philander Smith baseball program. Hired in September of that year, he wasted no time and signed 21 players in just 14 days, ensuring a competitive season the following spring. Under his leadership, the team exceeded expectations by winning 14 games and securing a commendable third-place finish out of six teams in the NAIA's Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.

Suarez's coaching prowess extended beyond wins and losses. During his tenure at Philander Smith, the Panthers achieved numerous milestones, including setting new school records for most home runs in a single game (three), most no-hitters in a season (two), and most stolen bases in a single game (18). The team also produced two All-GCAC honorees and the conference's Freshman of the Year award, among other prestigious accolades.

Before his tenure at Philander Smith, Suarez gained valuable coaching experience as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Salem University. His impact was evident in the significant improvements made in the areas of infield, hitting, and baserunning. As a player, Suarez was an everyday starter as an outfielder and second baseman, boasting a school-record 80 stolen bases and contributing to Salem's record-breaking 26-win season in 2018.

Noah Suarez holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Salem University, which he earned in 2020. He furthered his education by obtaining a master's degree in business administration with a focus on sports and recreation management.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Suarez has also served as a coach and general manager of a club in a collegiate baseball league in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for the past four years. His dedication to the game and commitment to player development are evident through his extensive coaching resume.

River Dragons General Manager Dallas Martz expressed his enthusiasm for Noah Suarez's appointment, stating, "Noah Suarez's appointment as the head coach of the Alton River Dragons is nothing short of remarkable. His impressive accomplishments in such a short period of time speak volumes about his dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence. We couldn't be more thrilled to have him leading our team to new heights."

Noah Suarez himself shared his excitement, saying, "I want to thank Steve Marso and Dallas Martz for giving me the opportunity to be the River Dragons' next Head Coach. I look forward to putting together a high-caliber team for Alton and working towards getting back to the Prospect League championship."

The Alton River Dragons are eager to embark on this new chapter with Noah Suarez at the helm and are confident in his ability to lead the team to success in the upcoming season.
